WEEK ONE

We begin the course with a look at tonal value and sketching. Using a range of pencils, we will explore how to create a reflective surface and capture moving liquid.

WEEK TWO

This week, we will use mark making and tonal value to create an illustration of an octopus. We will look at how to make a static drawing have movement and curl out of the page.

WEEK THREE

We begin our deep dive into soft pastels with these bubbles. Drawing on the last few weeks practice of reflective surfaces and tonal value, we will look at how to introduce subtle colour to capture floating soap bubbles.

WEEK FOUR

Have your pencil sharpener ready! This week, we look at how to capture black fur by using highlights & pops of colour to create glossy fur with mark making.

WEEK FIVE

Continuing our work on black paper, we look at capturing light through studying interior & exterior windows.

WEEK SIX

We finish The Drawing Course study of light with this AI generated image by Waru. Using grey toned pastel paper, we will look at how to sketch a portrait and capture reflected candle light.
